I'm lucky that my girls don't spit up much... so when it happens, it really catches me off guard.
Take tonight for example. I took Cadence to a large store with me to do some shopping. I fed her, loaded her up into her carseat, and then drove to the store. When we arrived, I unbuckled her and stuffed her into the front carrier. In order to get her in correctly, I bounced her around pretty good, which is probably not the best thing to do after a bottle. We walked into the store, where we were greeted by a store employee. It was really busy and there were people swooping past us to get into the store.
As soon as I stopped to listen to the store employee's welcome speech, Cadence proceeded to spit up an insane amount of formula... we're talking half of the bottle she just consumed. The bad part is that it smelled REALLY bad and got all over my arm, plus the floor, plus the employee's shoe. Whoops. The employee freaked out and acted like it was a hazardous waste site and looked at me for something to clean it up with. Of course I had nothing! No diaper bag, no towel, no burp cloth. He looked at me like I was crazy and proceeded direct traffic so no one stepped into the mess.
It was embarrassing, but also pretty darn funny. I guess I better go and change my shirt now :) And next time, I think I'll bring the diaper bag along!
